The Summer Teaching Program is an outstanding opportunity for new and seasoned educators to invest a rewarding month in the lives of fellow educators in China or Mongolia. So rewarding is this experience that more than half of our teachers each summer come from previous teachers in this program – many of whom return year after year. For many educators, serving in this program is the highlight of their year.

Those whom we teach in this highly-valued program are respected national teachers of English, primarily at the primary or middle-school level. They are required to receive periodic ongoing education credits and since 1985 ELIC has had the privilege of serving in this key role. The focus is in providing opportunities to practice and upgrade both English speaking skills and areas of teaching methodology.

Because we have seasoned educators on each team of eight to ten, additional team members may have less teaching experience – those with degrees in other fields as well as college students, especially those majoring in English, education or TESOL. Our comprehensive training prepares each participant for success both inside and outside of the classroom, ensuring a rewarding and memorable month of service overseas.
