Requirements
 
There are a few requirements to keep in mind as you consider serving in China with ELIC.

Two-year Commitment
ELIC requires a commitment of two years for China, however, many teachers choose to extend their commitment for additional years of service.

Bachelor's Degree
ELIC requires a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in any field of study.

Committed Christian
The University Teaching Program sends committed Christians.

Native English Speaker
In order to meet the requirements that China has for English teachers, we may only send teachers who speak English as their first language.

Aptitude for Teaching
Although previous teaching experience is not required, ELIC is looking for individuals who have an aptitude and desire for teaching.

Committed to Serve in a Team Environment
ELIC teachers will be expected to serve in a team environment and must be committed to maintaining a positive and successful working relationship with their teammates.

Who Can Go?
The program in China is open to singles, couples, and families of all sizes. To bring non-teaching dependents, one of the teaching spouses traditionally has been expected to have a master's degree or significant teaching experience. ELIC has found exceptions to this rule, so please call us to discuss your individual situation.
