We're serious when it comes to sending teachers to Asia. If you're serious about going, contact us right away. Together, we can work to make it happen.

We invite you to apply for either the January or July departure (see departure information below). If you are not looking to serve right away, let us help you plan and give you the tools you'll need to prepare for the future.

CHINA, TIBET, VIETNAM, CAMBODIA, LAOS and MONGOLIA

ELIC teachers for China, Tibet, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos who begin orientation in July will start an initial two year teaching assignment in Asia at the beginning of the academic year. ELIC teachers for Mongolia who begin orientation in July will start with 6 months of language study before beginning their teaching assignment. MONGOLIA*, VIETNAM* and CAMBODIA*

All Vietnam, Mongolia and Cambodia applicants begin service in January, starting with over 6 months of language and cultural training in their respective capital cities: Hanoi, Ulan Bator and Phnom Penh, prior to starting an initial two year teaching assignment.  The language and cultural training has been added to ensure a successful transition in adjusting to living and working in these countries for an extended period of time.

CHINA including TIBET

The openings to depart in January for China and Tibet are very limited. Preference will be given to former ELIC teachers or those with previous teaching experience in Asia. Most participants are encouraged to depart in July.  Those leaving for China in January will begin teaching in the second semester of the university calendar and incur a 2.5 year initial service obligation.

LAOS

Laos teachers have the option of beginning service with ELIC in January, starting with teaching immediately following our Annual Thailand Conference. This is an initial 18 month service commitment..

*January departure is the preferred service option for Vietnam, Mongolia and Cambodia and is an initial 2.5 year initial service obligation.
