Testimonials
We have been raving fans of ELIC for years. What encourages us most is that ELIC continues to strategically expand the frontiers of its work with enthusiasm and fresh thinking. We are delighted to be counted among their supporters.
— Dr. Joseph Stowell, President, Cornerstone University (Grand Rapids, MI)
Having seen the benefit in serving long term, and believing that we have been called to work in China through ELIC, we had no trouble agreeing to an open-ended commitment to staying with ELIC in Asia until He leads us elsewhere.
— Matt and Sally Deroo, ELIC staff in China
For the last month the new teachers have been preparing to teach by taking classes for a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate from Wheaton College. The classes have been excellent preparation—ELIC does a great job in making sure that their teachers are well trained before sending us into the classroom.
— Kathryn, ELIC teacher in Vietnam
As I learned about the history and vision of this organization, I grew in my excitement to be a part of it.
— Suzy Fetherlin, ELIC teacher in Vietnam
ELIC takes its teaching very seriously, as I have found out. We spent 15 days learning everything from teaching objectives, lesson planning, classroom management and evaluation to cross-cultural communication to effectively working in teams. Not only did we spend a lot of time being instructed, but we have had hands-on practice in these important skills. I’m still a little nervous about teaching, but I feel well-supported by the training.
— Rachael Brzys, ELIC teacher in China
Engage is the key that unlocked an overwhelming love for the world!
— Ashley Propes, Engage alumni
I felt very well cared for and appreciated by ELIC and the university staff and students in Shenyang. I’m trusting for an opportunity to teach in China again with ELIC.
— Mary C., taught in Shenyang
I loved teaching overseas, and I would encourage you to give it a try if you are looking for a new job, thinking of retiring, wanting to travel… or whatever. I picked ELIC because I wanted to go with an established organization that would serve the host country as well as provide support for the teachers they sent. It is a challenging and rewarding job that will change your life.
— Kristin Elliott, Teaching Fellowship Program alumni
Thank you to all the organizers of this training program which provides a platform for us who are eager to get knowledge. Thank you, ELIC. Thank you for offering us such excellent teachers and such scientific methodology. Thank you, Laura, our dear American granny. We will love her forever. Of course, we should thank the presidents and leaders in the Education Bureau in 4 regions because they gave us good chances to come here and learn. Thanks so much.
