Mongolia

In 1990, the first ELIC teaching team brought a new language and a living hope to this amazing country for the very first time. At that time, it seemed to our teachers that Mongolia was not just another country, but another era as well. The capital, Ulaanbaatar, had the look and feel of a 1950s European city. Since that time, the changes have been fast and comprehensive. The United Nations estimates that over the next five years Mongolia will be the world’s fastest growing economy.

EXCEL Program

The EXCEL program is the primary work that ELIC teachers do in Mongolia. Current Mongolian secondary school English teachers who live in Ulaanbaatar improve their English and teaching skills through this highly regarded 2-year program, completed in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The EXCEL course is quite different than a regular ELIC classroom, and consists of seminars, coaching visits to your students’ classrooms, as well as regular weekly instruction time. Each ELIC teacher has about 15 students to work with intensively.
