Bhutan is a living look at history stepping into the modern world
Tucked in the mountains between two giants of both population and industry lies Bhutan, a tiny gem of a nation, which has fought to maintain its unique cultural identity by keeping itself almost entirely isolated from the outside world. Until recently, that is.
The first international tourists were allowed in 1974, but only a few hundred people were approved that year. To this day, tourism remains strategically restricted in an attempt to be more open to the world without compromising the culture they’ve worked so hard to preserve.
We are deeply honored to be invited into this culture full of color and movement, steeped in religious tradition. As they navigate this new era of connection to the outside world, the demand for English teachers is growing. We are excited to help meet that need while honoring their long-standing traditions and deep cultural roots.
